In the age of short-form content and AI-generated text, has the blogging era truly come to an end? While attention spans may be shorter than ever, I'm noticing a growing craving for more depth, intelligence, and genuine connection (qualities that short-form content often misses). To me, blogging isn't dead; it's rebranding and evolving. Blogs remain incredibly effective and useful, depending on your purpose. In this post, I'll explore why blogging is neither dead nor dying, and how you can leverage it effectively for your business or as a content creator.
Why Blogging Isn't Dead (and Why It Matters More Than Ever)
Everyday there are 13.7 to 14 billion google searches, with over 5 trillion google searches annually. Even with ai, people are still using google. Not everyone is jumping on the ai trend as much as social media makes it seem that way. Even though google has added their ai overview to their searches, people still want real information from real people. The blogging world has over 600 million blogs as of 2025, 7.5 million blog posts are posted annually. Most importantly, 83% of internet users read blog posts annually. That’s only a cool 4.4 billion people around the world.
These numbers debunk the myth of blogging's demise. They illustrate that despite shifts in content consumption, a massive audience continues to seek the detailed answers, unique perspectives, and trusted voices that blogs offer. This inherent demand underscores why blogs are still critical for SEO, for establishing authority, and for creating evergreen content that lasts far beyond fleeting trends.
Blogging is a powerful tool to supplement and enhance your social media presence. When you create a blog, you share your personal experiences, and most importantly, establish your expertise and authority. Often, with social media, it's hard to properly explain all the nuances of different subjects; you have to be fast and capture attention quickly. That's why I use blogging as a direct extension to my social media: it allows me to delve into more details, offer comprehensive tools, and provide resources that simply aren't possible with short-form content alone. So, consider blogging a way to truly expand on your ideas and become a recognized expert in your field. The right audience, those genuinely seeking deeper information, will gravitate towards you, and blogging is the most effective way to provide that value and build lasting connections.
When it comes to blogging, I highly suggest focusing on evergreen content—the type of content that will remain relevant and valuable for years to come. While short-form social media trends are fleeting, blog posts are inherently built for longevity. They can continue to provide value and attract new readers long after their initial publication. It's true that other platforms, like YouTube and even TikTok, can also host evergreen content (as my own experience with videos still garnering hundreds of thousands of views demonstrates!). However, the text-based nature of blogs makes them uniquely searchable, easily updatable to evolve with new information, and an informational hub you can consistently use as a resource for your audience and clients.
Finally, and perhaps most crucially, your blog offers something invaluable that most other platforms cannot: true ownership. Unlike social media giants or even platforms like Substack, which I’m currently using for other reasons and benefits. I also have my personal blog that I own myself. Your self-hosted blog is your digital property. You control everything—your content, your design, your data, and your monetization. This independence is a powerful long-term asset, providing stability and security for your content and your brand, free from platform changes or arbitrary policy updates.
How to Make Blogging Thrive for You in 2025
Now that we got that out of the way, how can you use blogging for yourself, for your business, or if you’re a content creator. While I'll dive into more specific details in separate, dedicated blog posts for each of these avenues, the general principle remains: blogging is an extension of your main purpose. If you’re a business owner, or entrepreneur your blog is an invaluable way to showcase your expertise, services or products leading to more clients, and sales. For content creators, it can diversify your income streams, foster deeper relationships with your social media audience, and reduces your reliance on solely producing short form content.
In this digital age, there is an overwhelming amount of information out there. The goal with blogging isn’t just about creating more noise; It’s about creating quality content that can genuinely be helpful, valuable or motivational in nature. The focus is to create less content with more impact. This means creating well researched, and genuinely helpful articles that answer people’s questions and give them a solution to their problems. By consistently delivering this kind of value, you can become a trusted expert—the go-to resource within your niche of interest. This strategic approach also helps you get noticed in Google searches, on Pinterest, and across social media, serving as a lasting hub where you can redirect your audience for deeper knowledge.
Using Blogging with AI (The Future is Collaborative)
So, where does AI fit into all of this? Don’t be intimidated by artificial intelligence, or the idea that it’s going to replace all humans. I like to think of AI like my own personal assistant when I’m writing blog posts, and with content creation. AI can’t take away my voice, or my unique experiences, and that’s why its crucial for you to create and share more. Here are a few ways you can leverage AI:
Brainstorming and Research
Outlining and organizing your ideas
Editing and grammar checks
SEO & Keywords
Repurposing content
Ultimately, AI handles the heavy lifting of repetitive tasks, freeing you to focus on what truly matters: crafting the authentic, insightful content that only you can create. It amplifies your efforts, allowing you to produce more impactful work in less time, making blogging more strategic and powerful than ever before. I will be going through many of these methods, prompts, and strategies here on Blogging with AI.
Conclusion
So, is blogging dead in 2025? Absolutely not—it's simply evolved. Far from being obsolete, blogging remains a powerful, indispensable tool to help you amplify your value and voice. Now that you understand just how impactful it can be, you can approach your own blog with renewed confidence. With AI, we can make blogging more efficient, strategic, and impactful than ever before, truly empowering you to share your unique message with the world.
